Project Specifications

Preliminary Project Descriptions (SD Phase) are narratives of building assemblies and systems, organized by the UniFormat standard, and are useful in establishing owner approval at the conclusion of the Schematic Design Phase and assist cost estimators with preliminary estimates.

Project Specifications (DD and CD Phases) - Depending on the size and complexity of the project and the method of project delivery, we can choose from outline, short-form or full-length formats to tailor the specifications to the job. We can incorporate documents from other project contributors to produce a consistent, coordinated project manual.

· Our Masters: AIA MasterSpec, UFGS (US Military), VA, GSA, and USPS.

Software - We are experts with ARCOM MasterWorks Specware using Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect and NASA SpecsIntact with UFGS masters.

Owner-Provided Standards or Specification Masters often contain out-of-date references and manufacturers. We can review these documents to update obsolete information and verify that your design intent is consistent with the owner's preferences.

Review of Architect/Engineer-Prepared Project Specs - We can take specifications prepared by your design team and coordinate them with the drawings. This can be a very cost-effective process for smaller projects.

Master Specifications

Master specifications can get out of date quickly. Industry standards are regularly updated, manufacturers come and go, and products are introduced or redesigned. It takes constant attention to these matters to stay on top of the changes and maintain specification masters that are current and correct.

Information is the mainstay of our practice and we dedicate the hours necessary to educate ourselves and incorporate the latest information in our specification masters.

Whether you are a design firm, a product manufacturer, or a facility owner, we can apply the same disciplined process to updating your specification masters.

Product Manufacturer Guide Specs

Manufacturers can make a bigger impact with architects by allowing us to make their guide specs more compatible with office masters and consistent with CSI Section Format.
